Melvin Deien recently announced the winners of the fourth annual Big Buck and Doe Archery Contest, sponsored by Peep Eliminator and the Deien Automotive Group – Deien Chevrolet in Trenton and Deien Hometown Auto Sales in Breese. Jason Buehler of Carlyle won first place in the Big Buck category. He won $300 for his eight-point, 215-pound buck. Second place in the Big Buck category went to Douglas Horstman of Trenton. Horstman killed a 200-pound, 11-point buck and won $200. In the Doe category, Derrick Missey of Lebanon won the $200 first-place prize for his 150-pound doe. Shane Hellmann of Breese took second place. He received a Deadlite Big Game Lift for his 135-pound doe. 115 hunters entered the annual bow contest. The 2010 contest will pay out three places for the Big Buck category and one for the Doe category. Registration will begin on September 1, 2010, and run through September 30.
